Nigeria’s D’Tigress left it late yet again to fight back, producing an even score in the fourth quarter of their second Group B game against France in the women’s basketball event at the Tokyo Olympics.
However, they lost 87-62. This leaves their chances of progressing into the knock-out stage hanging in the balance following two losses from as many matches.
They face hosts Japan in their last match of the group stage.
D’Tigress trailed by six points in the first quarter and were 17 points behind at halftime.
Coach Otis Hughley’s side falls short by eight points in the third quarter to go 25 points adrift of the Europeans.
They, however, matched their opponent shot for shot in the last quarter, 20- 20 but the damage had been done as Nigeria lost 87-62.
