Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku, has cautioned against the construction of illegal speed bumps on highways, which have caused avoidable accidents in the state and the country.
The Governor was speaking at the commissioning of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, permanent office complex by the Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi, in Jalingo.
The corps said it will take action against persons responsible for the construction of such illegal speed bumps.
The FRSC permanent office complex in Jalingo, Taraba State, is the fifteenth in the country. It is expected to enhance the productivity of the personnel.
The corps said it aims to make Nigerian roads safer, with a clampdown on illegal construction of speed bumps, and provide training for tri-cyclists, on traffic rules, free of charge.
The Corps Marshall of the FRSC, Boboye Oyeyemi, commended the efforts of the Taraba State Government in making the project a reality.
The office was commissioned by Governor Ishaku, who said the dualization and construction of roads in the state are expected to reduce the rates of accidents.
He also decried the illegal construction of speed bumps on the highways and reiterated that the ban on motorcycles in Jalingo, still stands.
Motorbikes have in the past been used for the easy execution of criminal activities.
Governor Ishaku said he is confident that the new office complex will make the corps, more active in the state, which will, in turn, ease transportation, and economic activities.
