Nineteen local government areas of Bauchi State have been affected by cholera outbreaks.
This was disclosed by the Executive Chairman, Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, during the official flag-off of the oral vaccination against the disease in Bauchi.
Since the cholera outbreak in 2021, results have indicated that about eighteen states, including the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, have so far been affected.
The Chairman of the Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Rilwanu Mohammed, said only one local government out of the 20 LGAs is not affected by the cholera outbreak.
Shortly after receiving the vaccine, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, alongside his wife and top government officials, charged the religious and traditional leaders to embark on house to house campaign on sanitation and hygiene to put an end to the cholera outbreak in the state.
He assured that his administration will continue to invest in the provision of quality health care services to the people.
Representatives of the donor partners assured of their maximum support to the Bauchi State government to ensure the success of the campaign, and the fight against infectious diseases.
