The persistent rainfall in Bauchi State and its environs has led to the washing away of bridges, culverts, and the submerging of hundreds of hectares of farmlands, and the destruction of property worth millions of Naira in some villages in Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, North-East Nigeria.
The Chairman of the Local Government, Iliya Habila, said the incident called for urgent assistance from relevant authorities at the federal and state government levels.
The torrential rains in the past few days have resulted in the overflow of the river banks, leading to the flooding of farms and the cutting off of bridges and culverts.
Habila confirmed the incident and pleaded for assistance from the state and the federal government to avert any loss of life.
The flooded villages are Bar, Gizaki Ndit, Tadnum Bugun, and Dhabi.
The residents of the affected villages are now living in conditions of uncertainty.
