Security Meeting with Senators

President Muhammadu Buhari will hold a meeting with the 109 Senators of the National Assembly at the Presidential Villa in Abuja at 8 p.m. tonight.

This comes after the Senate passed a resolution on April 27, 2021, directing the upper legislative chamber’s leadership to convene a meeting between the president and the 109 senators to examine the country’s high rate of insecurity.

The meeting was announced in a letter from the State House, which President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, read during plenary on Tuesday, July 13, 2021.

“I write to tell the Distinguished President of the Senate, that President Muhammadu Buhari will host a dinner of Senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on Tuesday, July 13th, at 8 p.m.,” reads the invitation letter from the statehouse.

The State House Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja, is the location of the planned deliberation. Nigeria has in recent times witnessed a high spate of growing insecurity. The violence which was once characterized in the North has spread across the South West and South East causing major concerns for the average Nigerians.

Many kidnapping spates have become typical with many having to pay ransoms.
