Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has said that the recent attack in the Dabna community of Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State that claimed over 20 lives was a result of a land dispute and not a Boko Haram attack.
Governor Fintiri disclosed this while on an assessment visit to the community.
Dabna community shares a 20-kilometer boundary with Sambisa forest. Due to its proximity, the village has been vulnerable to attacks.
The recent attack, as confirmed by residents, points fingers at Boko Haram insurgents.
The visit by Governor Fintiri revealed that the attack was a reprisal over land disputes among the communities.
While addressing the few residents in the area, the Governor frowned at how political leaders and traditional rulers would abandon their communities to reside in urban areas.
He warned them to return and stay with their people or face sanctions.
The residents are requesting the establishment of military camps between Koper and Askira as well as Garkida that has a border with Borno State.
