The Federal Government says forensic investigations have linked some prominent Nigerians to the leader of the Proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu. The arrest and prosecution of those already identified will commence shortly.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, disclosed this at a news briefing in Abuja on Thursday.
At the news conference in Abuja, Mohammed said it has become necessary to let Nigerians into how the leader of the proscribed IPOB was arrested after he miraculously disappeared from the country over two years ago.
The Minister, who did not give specific information of where Kanu was arrested and how, said it was the result of prolonged surveillance.
He also said the forensic analysis done so far has revealed that some prominent Nigerians have been collaborating with the leader of the proscribed organisation hinting that their arrests would start shortly
Responding to calls for the leader of the proscribed IPOB to be fairly treated, the Minister said there’s nothing for anyone to be afraid of.
At the end of the briefing which lasted for about 30 minutes, the Minister did not entertain any questions.
