The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC says it is set to begin a fresh nationwide Continous Voter Registration Exercises, CVR, billed for Monday, June 28, 2021.

INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, made this known to reporters in Abuja, during a news conference held at the Headquarters of the Commission.

On Monday, June 28, 2021, eligible voters who have clocked 18 years and above, those with damaged PVC, and those seeking to transfer their PVCs, will be in their various wards and polling units to get themselves registered.

Yakubu said the Commission has acquired all necessary equipment for the exercise, updated its registration software, and planned for the deployment of 5,346 staff to the 2,673 registration centres nationwide.

The registration which is lasting for one year, is, to begin with, online registration through the INEC registration portal.

For a period of three weeks after which the exercise will move to the field, for physical completion of the registration at designated centres nationwide.

Yakubu disclosed that among the equipment for the exercise, is a new registration machine called the INEC Voter Enrolment Device, IVED, built around the concept of a tablet computer to replace the lap-top based old Direct Data Capture Machine, DDCM.

The Commission, however, said the idea of the portal is for intending registrants to commence the process online by filling the forms and uploading their pictures and required documents, and then make an appointment on the web portal for a date and time to visit an INEC state or local government area office to give their fingerprints and complete the registration.
