Uganda has shut its parliament for two weeks after 100 members of parliament tested positive to the coronavirus in what has been described as the third wave in the country.
The shutdown will allow for disinfection of the parliamentary buildings for a period of two weeks from the 28th of June till the 11th of July.
It is believed that the four major public events held at the facility in May including the election of the speaker and budget reading are major culprits.
Uganda has since resumed a lockdown that started earlier this month to help stem the spread of the virus.
The pandemic is also gaining momentum across other parts of East Africa.
