Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has appealed to the federal government to respect and implement the decision of the federal high court in Abuja which ordered the refund of 951 million dollars as arrears from the 13% revenue derivation accrued to the state.
Reacting to the court order at the weekly executive council meeting this Wednesday in Yenagoa, the Governor noted that continuing litigations will be unjust to the state which has been denied of its shared revenues for too long.
He assured that the state was prepared for meaningful dialogue with the federal government in ensuring that which was due to the state was granted.
A federal high court in Abuja had on Monday this week, in a judgment delivered by Justice Inyang Ekwo, ordered the federal government to pay the said amount from the 13% revenue derivative sum that was not remitted to the state between the year 2003 to 2017.
