Police Parade 5 Suspected IPOB Gun Suppliers, 20 Others In Calabar

Cross River State Police Command has paraded five suspected gun suppliers to the Proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, led by a 30-year-old Friday Egbe Charkpen.

Twenty others were also paraded by the state Commissioner of Police, Sikiru Akande, for various suspected criminal offences including armed robbery, cultism, murder among others.

Akande while speaking with reporters in Calabar, the state capital, said the suspects were arrested during operations at various blackspots across the states following intelligence report.

The Commissioner of Police assured the citizens of the campaign for the restoration of peace through community policing, neighborhood watch, and genuine vigilante groups in Cross River State which he said is yielding positive results.

The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Eteng Williams, who witnessed the parade, said the government will continue to support the Nigeria Police.

The CP said various arms and ammunition were recovered from the suspected criminals even as he promised to charge them to court upon completion of investigations.
