Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, has said that the key to good governance and responsive leadership in Nigeria is when the electoral bill is passed into law.

Governor Emmanuel, who expressed this view when the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator, Edward Kallon, paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital, said the people must be allowed to freely choose their leaders.

The Governor is one of the most vocal advocates of electoral reforms in the country and he used the visit of the UN Humanitarian Coordinator to reiterate his call for the swift passage of the electoral bill.

Governor Emmanuel is optimistic that the visit of Kallon will see Akwa Ibom State benefit more from the UN aid packages.

The UN Envoy, Edward Kallon is in the state to assess the state government’s progress in Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs, programmes, and his impression is really positive.

Kallon is also looking at ways to partner with the state government to achieve all the SDG goals.
