The President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN, Engineer Ibrahim Gusau, has been re-elected for a second term. He is to pilot the activities of the federation for the next four years.
Engineer Gusau polled 20 votes to defeat Uche Nwona, who scored two votes in the concluded election of the Federation in Birnin Kebbi, Northwest Nigeria.
Twenty-two delegates participated in the exercise where he emerged as the president.
Others include Sunday Adeleye as the First Vice President, while Nnek Ikem Anibeze emerged as the Second Vice President of the Federation.
In his acceptance speech, the incumbent and newly elected President, Gusau, assured that his administration will immediately hit the ground running, towards the development of Athletics in particular, and sports in general, in the country.
The former Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Solomon Dalong, commended the Electoral Committee under the Chairmanship of Mr. Otunba Prince Jambright for conducting a free and fair election.
