Nigerian internationals Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi’s hopes of playing in the UEFA Champions League next season were dashed following Leicester City’s 4-2 home loss to Tottenham Hotspur on the final day of the English Premier League season.

Leicester City needed a win to secure a Champions League berth but a second-half capitulation saw them surrender their lead to Tottenham.

In other results, Chelsea fans worldwide breathed sighs of relief as a 2-1 loss to Aston Villa could have seen them finish outside the top 4 if Leicester had won.

Manchester United’s second string side managed an impressive 2-1 away win over wolves and Liverpool’s rollercoaster season ended on a high note with a 2-nil win over Crystal Palace to finish 3rd.

Meanwhile EPL Champions Manchester City finished the season in style with a convincing 5-nil win over Everton.

Aguero scored a brace in his last league appearance for City in the match. The Argentine will join fellow countryman, Lionel Messi at Barcelona next season.
