Katsina Emirate Council has announced the dismissal of Sarkin Pawwan Katsina, District Head of Kankara, Yusuf Lawal.

His dismissal follows the outcome of the investigative panel set up over his alleged aiding and abating banditry in his domain three weeks ago.

The Sarkin Yakin Katsina and secretary to the Emirate Council, Mamman Ifo, confirmed the development to reporters saying that the District Head was found guilty of all the charges leveled against him.

He hinted that as a result of the outcome of his indictment, the Emir of Katsina, Abdulmuminu Usman, after receiving a letter from the state government who were also investigating him has ordered the sacking of the district head.

It could be recalled that an emirate investigative committee chaired by the Kauran Katsina, District Head of Rimi, after meeting security officials and other stakeholders especially from the Kankara district found Lawal guilty of aiding and abating bandits and kidnappers operating in his domain.

The report also indicated that he was also found guilty of frustrating efforts to tackle the bandits.

According to Ifo, a new replacement will be announced soon even as it is speculated in some quarters that, Justice Adoh Bello is tipped to step into his shoes.

Kankara is also the town where the 344 schoolboys of Government Science Secondary School were abducted in December 2020.
