After 11 days of warfare and counter airstrikes and over 200 persons dead, Israel and Hamas have finally decided to hold their respective fires. The ceasefire took effect by 2:00 AM allowing people to come out of their homes, many celebrating the truce.
The current spate of violence has ended inconclusively pretty much like the ones before it. Not all is happy with the ceasefire as some Israeli parliamentary members have criticized the Prime Minister of ending the current operation too soon labelling it embarrassing as Israel first announced a ceasefire before Hamas.
Although the current offense has stopped due to extreme pressure from the United States and close allies, the statement subtly warned the Hamas of a possible resumption.
“The political leaders emphasized that the reality on the ground will determine the future of the campaign,”
the statement read.
