Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Ibrahim Attahiru, has died in a plane crash in Kaduna state. He died alongside his ADC, and a Major General in a plane crash in Kaduna.
He was on his way to Kaduna ahead of Saturday’s passing out parade of soldiers from the Nigerian Army Depot, Zaria.

NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, said that the immediate cause of the air crash is still being ascertained.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army has formally announced the passing of its Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Ibrahim Attahiru. The sad event occurred following an air crash in Kaduna which also claimed the lives of 10 other officers including the crew.
A statement by the spokesperson, Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima said that the COAS was en route Kaduna from Abuja on Friday, 21 May 2021 when the unfortunate incident happened.
The statement further said that details of the sad incident and burial arrangements will be communicated soon.
