A former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Joseph Daodu, says the ongoing strike by the Judiciary Staff Union, JUSUN, is unconstitutional.

Daodu explained that order 10 signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2020 was merely to give enforcement spirit to the autonomy provision.

Different interest groups have been clamouring for the enforcement of the autonomy of the Judiciary at the state level.

Despite series of engagements and interfaces which are still ongoing the situation has remained the same.

Daodu is disturbed about the current hue and cry for financial autonomy for the Judiciary by the JUSUN.

He, therefore, insisted on the continued insulation of judges from money matters because of the pivotal role in the life of the nation and her people.

He also cautioned against using money as a yardstick for measuring the independence of the judiciary.

Most Nigerians want the Federal Government and the aggrieved judicial workers to urgently strike a deal in order to guarantee the hope of the Nigerian people in justice dispensation.
