Less than 24 hours after suspected bandits abducted a Sharia Court Judge from Safana Local Government Area, a fresh attack has been launched in the Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The attack was however, repelled by security agencies.
Batsari Local Government Area used to be one of the frontline areas frequently bedevilled by banditry in the past.
According to a local source, the attack took place at about 10 pm when the bandits in their numbers, stormed the town shooting.
As a result of the sporadic gunshots, residents scampered for safety, saying no one can tell for now, what the bandits’ mission was.
He hinted that a joint team of the police, army, and vigilante groups were contacted, which resulted in foiling the attack.
The source noted that 21 persons were abducted during the night attack.
According to him, many of the residents fled their homes that night for the fear of the unknown.
The police authority in the state is, however, yet to comment on the development.
