With the 2023 general elections about two years away, a youth pressure group, Save Katsina Group, SKG, has called on politicians in the state to avoid unnecessary politicking and heating up the polity.

The Chairman of the group, Hamza Saulawa, who made this known in a statement, called on political parties to put a stop to the activities of those canvassing for votes and strive to stabilize the state, security-wise.

Saulawa further reminded politicians and political parties in the state of the need to be guided by the constitution, electoral act, and the code of conduct of the political parties, amongst others.

He also called on the people of the state to avoid being misled by those he called, “power mongers,” fighting to win the hearts of the people, even as the election period is still far.

Saulawa, while decrying the acts of those involved, said the ideal thing for politicians in the state, is to organize special prayer sessions, for the restoration of security and peace in the state, and complement the efforts of security agencies, government, and other stakeholders, in the ongoing search for a permanent solution to insecurity in the state.

The youth’s group also lamented that the “ongoing campaign,” affects the official duties of public office holders, who are directly and indirectly sponsoring mushroom groups, for the self-serving political project across the state.
