South Africa's Jacob Zuma's trial Postponed

The former South African President’s trial set to begin today has been postponed till the 26th of May. Jacob Zuma who has been facing charges of fraud, bribery, and graft for goods worth $5 billion during Thabo Mbeki’s tenure has pled not guilty to all the charges leveled against him.

He had deemed the process a political witch hunt set to malign his image and questioned the integrity of the Zondo Commission during the course of the trial.

Zuma who has on several occasions failed to show up in court or asked for rescheduling of some dates has had his entire legal council withdraw from his case after he lost a ruling to foot his legal bills running up to a million.

the trial however has not done much to malign Zuma’s credibility or popularity as many supporters were seen waving in solidarity to the former president and all rose in respect to the now 79-year-old former president as he entered the Pietermaritzburg High Court.
