No fewer than 150 members of the Special Vigilante Squad in Niger State have expressed readiness to curtail the activities of criminal elements.
The vigilante members were assembled at the secretariat of Chanchaga Local Government Council, before their final posting to the field of operations.
The Special Vigilante Squad members are drawn from nine vigilante groups in Bosso and Chanchaga Local Government Areas of Niger State.
Their main assignment and target is to engage bandits and cattle rustlers across Niger State, who have for years abducted people for ransom and rustled thousands of animals.
Some Local Governments in the state already have their vigilante groups who have been engaging some of the criminals.
