The Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, Niger State wing has called off its industrial action, with immediate effect.
The suspension of the industrial action followed a meeting between the State Executive Council members of the Union and the Niger State Government.
A statement by the leader of the State Government team and Head of Service, Salamatu Abubakar, and the State Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers, Umar Ibrahim, said that the implementation of Teachers Salary Structure, 40 years of service, and retirement age of 65, are among the fundamental resolutions reached at the meeting.
Members of the NUT had declared a statewide strike on May 4, following the government’s inability to meet the demands before the expiration of the ultimatum given.
