As many as 15 bodies have been counted at an unfortunate landslide at a gold mine in Siguiri, in North-Eastern Guinea. According to a local Red Cross official, more bodies would be likely found at the place of the mishap.

A government spokesperson has disclosed that in in-depth investigation will ensue to determine the cause and manner of the tragedy. The area is popular for unofficial artisanal miners and an estimated 17 people also lost their lives in a similar fate two years ago.

The site, which attracts miners from Mali, Senegal and some other African countries, is supposedly mined by machines is presumed to have given way after the miners struck in too deep according to Djanko Dansoko.
