The National Examinations Council, NECO, says it has recorded over 6, 000 cases of examination malpractice during the 2020 Senior School Certificate Examination, SSCE, external examination as against 17, 000 cases in 2019.
The Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Council, Professor Godswill Obioma, attributed the reduction in the examination malpractice to the commitment of the council’s staff and the Governing Board Members to achieve zero tolerance for examination malpractice.
Professor Obioma also said the council has blacklisted four supervisors who were found aiding and abetting malpractice. They will no longer be engaged in the conduct of the council’s examinations.
The council, in a statement by the Council’s Head, Information, and Public Relations Division, Azeez Sani, said that a total of about 30, 000 candidates obtained credit and above in English Language, while more than 34, 000 candidates obtained credit and above in Mathematics.
