The zonal leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, led by the National Vice Chairman, Dan Orbih, has called on Governors and Leaders from the zone to put modalities in place for a security outfit to stem the tide of insecurity in the region.

The call was made when the leadership paid a courtesy call on Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, in the Government House, Benin City, amid the rushing insecurity challenges in Nigeria.

Of major concern to the Orbih-led Zonal Working Committee is the level of insecurity in the country at large and the South-South Zone in particular.

He wants those in authority in the region to consider a security system that will protect the people.
Governor Obaseki notes that the security architecture has to be decentralised.

The discussion shifts to the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC. In unison, they expressed their reservations about the impact the Commission has made in the Niger Delta.

Obaseki, thereafter, called for a strengthening of the PDP, and its structures to better serve the people. He said that it is time for the party register to be updated to an electronic format.
