The crisis between the Imo state government and the Rochas Foundation over the ownership of the Eastern Palm University now K.O Mbadiwe University has taken a new dimension.
The management of the institution had suspended academic activities till further notice, directing students to leave the campus immediately.
On the 11th of February, the Imo State Executive Council, in accordance with provisions and recommendations of a white paper on land use and related matters recovered the Eastern Palm University from former Governor Okorocha.
Six days later, the State House of Assembly amidst ownership controversy repealed the law establishing the Eastern Palm University, Ogboko, and renamed it after a foremost nationalist KO Mbadiwe.
The state government continued to maintain its stance on the university.
However, the controversy is having its negative toll on the institution, hence the need to suspend academic activities pending amicable resolution. A quick resolution of this rift would be of immense advantage to the students who are at the receiving end.
