Nigeria’s House of Representatives Members has demanded a full investigation by the Inspector General of Police, Alkali Baba into the untimely death of Iniubong Umoren who went missing and eventually died in Akwa Ibom after lured out with a fake job offer.

The motion was raised by Unyime Idem, a representative of the Ukanafun/Oruk Anam constituency of Akwa Ibom. Iniubong’s case also harrowingly brought to the fore the rising spate of insecurity in the country.

Over 580 persons died to violent attacks in April 2021 alone, and just today, parents and members of the student union protested in front of the national assembly, demanding for the release of the students that were kidnapped at the Federal College of Forestry.

The Senate also plans to meet with the Service Chiefs on Thursday, May 6th. It will be the second meeting the President will have within the same week.
