Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, southeast Nigeria says the State Government will do everything within its powers to ensure the realisation of the proposed Ntigha Dry Port Project.
According to a statement issued on Monday, Governor Ikpeazu stated this while receiving a delegation of the East Gate Inland Container Terminal Limited, a Federal Government concessionaire on the Ntigha Dry Port Project.
The Governor observed that the project was very important to the State as it is part of the government’s efforts to create a better life for the Abia people.
He demanded to see the work plan of the project and the level of seriousness attained so far by putting something on the ground as the State has severally cleared the site for commencement of the project to no avail.
The Governor noted that trade and commerce in Nigeria have completely been made difficult due to the absence of ports of that nature, saying that dry ports such as the Ntigha project are necessary to stimulate the economy.
