Shouzi Chew, ByteDance’s existing CFO has been appointed the new Chief Operating Officer at TikTok. Although Shouzi will maintain his position as CFO at ByteDance, Yiming Zhang believes Shouzi’s ten-year experience in the technology sector will add depth to the team while fostering the business’ long-term initiatives.
Shouzi Chew an alumni of the prestigious Harvard Business School who grew up in Singapore and holds an Economics degree from the University College, London. He has diverse experience in the technology space from Facebook, Goldmann Sachs later on to Xiaomi.
Shouzi will be taking over from Vanessa Pappas who served as the interim CEO of TikTok since August after Kevin Mayer stepped down and is now the Chief Operating Officer at the company.
TikTok’s meteoric rise brought it a lot of fame but with it also came some steep legal battles, especially as the target of the 45th President of the States, who almost ensured the app sold out to a US-based company due to its vast penetration in the States.
