Retail conglomerate, Walmart has filed papers to oppose Kanye West’s Yeezy brand logo which it reports is too similar to its own. The logo in question, an 8-branched dotted sun-shaped logo share some similarities with Walmart’s 6-shaped lined yellow one and as such they want the trademark for the logo dismissed.
Yeezy had earlier this year filed for the trademark with the US Patent and Trademark Office, but Walmart just recently filed a notice of opposition to the trademark’s request last week with the argument that both businesses overlapped too much in the areas they could be used and that the goods and services listed in Yeezy’s application were numerous.
Both companies have had trademark litigation over the years, and are not new to the goings of patent disputes.
Yeezy’s legal representative is yet to respond to the issue.
