Turkey's Erdogan announces full lockdown by April 29th

Turkish President, Erdogan has imposed a nationwide lockdown in Turkey between April 29 – May 17. All Schools, Travel, and movement are to be restricted to prevent a surge in coronavirus cases.

Turkey has also in recent times seen an upward tick in the number of coronavirus cases with 37,312 new infections and 353 deaths in just one day. It is still not comparable to India’s but it is a huge figure signalling a strong third wave.

Citizens are expected to stay indoors mostly except for shooping essentials and for emergency treatments. Essential workers have been exempt from the lockdown measures as well as those in the manufacturing industry.
