Mogadishu seems to be under attack as government forces and rebels have clashed over the extension of Farmajo’s tenure as President.
President Mohamed Abdullahi recently signed into law a bill passed by lower parliament extending his tenure as president for two extra years. His tenure should have ended in February, two months away.
While some military units have shown unwavering support for the president, there are factions who do not support the move and even the international community has criticized the move as unconstitutional.
The unrest begun with local clashes within the community before it spread to other parts of the cities. Some former warlords and rebel forces have been reportedly involved in the clashes.
Somali security minister, Hassan Hundubey Jimale believes and reported that some undisclosed foreign countries are behind the recent violence in the country.
