More Nigerians have joined the call for the resignation or sack of the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Issa Pantami, over his alleged previous comments in support of a terrorist group.
Pantami, a trusted ally of President Muhammadu Buhari whose Ministry is also in charge of the National Identity Number registration, came under public scrutiny for his previous beliefs and comments in support of Islamic terrorist groups.
Though Pantami has since regretted such comments including his radical views, opinions amongst commentators are that mere regrets were not enough for him to hold unto the office of a Minister in Nigeria.
They said if Pantami failed to resign, President Buhari must do the needful in order to protect his government’s integrity.
Though the presidency has insisted on not sacking the Minister, Nigerians are waiting to see how events will unfold in days to come.
