Governor Abubakar Bello of Niger State has directed the State Emergency Management Agency to make food items and other basic necessities, available to Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, at their Camp in Gwada, in Shiroro Local Government Area.

The directive by the Governor is part of efforts to meet the immediate basic needs of the displaced persons from Chiri and Guni in both Shiroro and Munya Local Government Areas of the State.

Governor Bello in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mary Berje, said the agency should extend similar gestures to other camps across the state.

The statement hinted that the state government is taking necessary security measures to ensure normalcy is restored to the villages affected by the banditry attacks.

The Governor assured the IDPs that returning them to their families to continue with their normal life remains the government’s concern.

He described the situation as worrisome because thousands of farmers have already lost their source of livelihood.

He urged the people to cooperate with the Joint Military Taskforce, while carrying out their operations, to achieve the desired results.
