Members of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN, in Ondo State on Thursday continued their protest against the failure of State Governors to give the Judicial arm of government financial autonomy in line with provisions of the constitution.

This time, the protesters were joined by the leadership of the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC.

The protest is coming two days after members of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, in Ondo State staged a peaceful protest in support of the demand for financial autonomy for the judiciary.

The protesters who were joined by the State Chairman of NLC, Sunday Adeleye, said a situation where the judiciary depends on state governors for funds is not acceptable.

They said the judiciary, which is an independent arm of government saddled with the role of administration of justice, should not be strangulated by the executive arm of government.

Addressing the protesters, the State Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, said their demands will be looked into.
