Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has called for the diversification of Nigeria’s economy as the viable way to ensure progressive growth amidst global economic uncertainty brought about by the coronavirus pandemic.
The Governor made this call at a workshop for the development of the Benin master plan and Edo State Development plan which held at the John Oyegun Civil Service Training Academy in Benin City, the state capital.
The advent of the coronavirus pandemic sent shock waves across nations as they had to grapple with the attendant effects which cut across sectors and resulted in a sharp drop in the global prices of commodities, including crude oil.
Governor Obaseki called on Nigeria being a mono-economy dependent on the commodity as its biggest source of revenue to fully embrace diversification of its economy for the benefit of the nation.
The quest to make Edo great again and enhance her growth has begun through the commencement process for the creation of a 30-year master plan for the state.
Obaseki noted that it will promote sustainable all-around development.
