FILE - In this file photo dated Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, Britain's Prince Philip salutes during a special Armistice Day ceremony under the Menin Gate in Ypres, Belgium. The Duke of Edinburgh attended a special Armistice Day ceremony on Monday to oversee the handover of 70 sandbags of soil from Flanders fields. The sandbags, collected by Belgian and British schoolchildren from Commonwealth cemeteries in Belgium, were handed over to the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery and will be taken to London and placed in the Flanders Fields Memorial Garden at the Wellington Barracks. When Elizabeth became queen at the age of 25 in 1952, Philip gave up his naval career and dedicated himself to supporting her and the monarchy. The Duke of Edinburgh is currently being laid to rest at the St. George’s Chapel after which he would be taken to his final resting place at the Royal Vault. Prince Phillip, Grandfather to Prince Charles and Harry was the Queen’s Consort for 73 years.

He passed away at 90 after a short illness which has been reported to be unrelated to COVID-19. Many Britons have laid crest of flowers at the Windsor Castle where he lived until his last.

Although Meghan, would be unable to attend the funeral proceedings due to her pregnancy, Prince Harry came for the funeral. It is expected that tensions are high following the no-holds-barred interview the couple had with Oprah.

The two have since moved on and are trying to adapt into their new found lives in the suburbs of California. Due to COVID-19 restrictions only 30 members of the Royal Family were allowed entry into the Chapel to witness the funeral rites.

Prince Phillip will be sorely missed by not just the Royal Family but all of Britain.
