Police confirm 6 farmers killed in Fresh Plateau Attack

Six farmers have again been killed by armed men suspected to be herdsmen on Thursday night in Wereng village, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, North Central Nigeria.

The latest attack which also left two others critically injured is coming barely five days after eight miners were killed at a mining site behind Government Science School Kuru, Jos South Local Government Area of the state.

An eyewitness, who survived the attack, Dauda Jatau, said the attackers spoke Fulfulde and Hausa during the invasion.

He added that they were just seated discussing the last attack which took place at a mining site in Kuru and the rumours of planned attacks before they heard gunshots by the invaders.

Those killed in the Thursday night attack include Chuwang Williams 29, Bulus Danbom 41 Peter Williams 39, Dung Gyang 60, Dachung Gara 44, and Davou Dachung 45 years, while those injured are Davou Jatau and Gyang Jatau, who are currently being treated at the Vom Christian Hospital.

The Plateau State Police Command while conforming to the attack through its spokesperson, ASP Gabriel Ubah, said the command has already launched a manhunt against the perpetrators of the dastardly act.
