Properties and goods worth several millions of naira have been destroyed after a fire incident razed down about 30 shops at the Oro Central market in the Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State on Tuesday night.

Some of the traders said that they have lost all their source of livelihood.

It is the morning after the fire incident in Oro market. The traders who once owned shops at the market are counting their losses, estimated to be in the millions of naira.

Speaking to reporters in the local Yoruba language, many are at a loss on where to start from. It is a desperate time for them and their only plea is for the State Government to come to their assistance

The Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, while inspecting the scene of the fire, also commiserated with the victims promising that the state Emergency Management Agency has been directed to take accurate data of the victims and extent of damage to determine government’s intervention.

Oro in the Irepodun Local Government Area is the country home of the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Muhammed.
