The Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, has announced plans to reintroduce the on-street parking scheme popularly known as the Park and Pay Policy with effect from May 1, 2021.
Acting Secretary of the Transportation Secretariat, Yahaya Usman, said this while addressing reporters in Abuja on Tuesday.
The Acting Secretary explained that the Park and Pay Policy was suspended by the Federal High Court in 2014 for having no legal backing but added that the FCT Administration has come up with enabling laws to drive the policy.
The Administration explained that the concerns raised by the public including the high-handedness of its officials, double taxation, and unprofessional conduct have been addressed in the new FCT Parking regulations 2019.
