Zamfara State government says it will partner with the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, in the areas of scholarship, feedback on how well the state government is doing in advancing the standard of education and security, especially with the Safe School Initiative to ensure that students are protected in their various schools.
The Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, Gusau, Bashir Muhammad, gave the hint during the inauguration of the new executives of the NANS in Gusau, Zamfara State capital, Northwest Nigeria.
Muhammad, who represented the Zamfara State Governor at the inauguration of the NANS Zone A, said the state government’s willingness to partner with the association is critical to empowering the youths educationally, to provide a platform for the students, and to share credible intelligence that will help security agents to tackle insecurity.
He highlighted what the state government is going to provide education to youths in the state to include payment of scholarship and sending some youths to study abroad, among others
The outgoing and incoming coordinators of the NANS Zone A want the northern governors to come together, irrespective of political party affiliation to champion the course of education and tackle the prevailing insecurity in the region.
The students also appealed to the government to intensify efforts at ensuring that they secure the safe release of the remaining abducted students of the College of Forestry and Mechanization, Afaka, in Kaduna State.
