As a result of the intense fight against banditry and other forms of crimes, four bandits’ leaders have unconditionally denounced banditry and surrendered sophisticated weapons in Katsina state.
Commissioner of Police, Sanusi Buba, who stated this while parading the repentant bandits’ leaders and other suspected criminals said, two General Purpose Machine guns, GPMG, one AK-49 assault rifle, 23 AK-47 assault rifles, and a total of 109 GPMG ammunition were also surrendered.
Other weapons surrendered include 95 7.62MM live ammunition of AK 47 riffle and 45 rustled cows.
Speaking on behalf of the bandits’ leaders, Ado Sarki said they bought the weapons with the intent of protecting themselves before they converted them into banditry.
He promised to support government and security agencies in the fight against banditry, stressing that they will help in ensuring that those who refuse to surrender are caught.
