The Bayelsa State Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Christiana Abiakam, says the resolve of personnel under her Command in carrying out their assigned mandate of protecting critical national infrastructure, particularly in the oil industry remains unshakeable.

Abiakam-Omanau stated this Wednesday at the NSCDC headquarters in Yenagoa, the state capital while parading three suspects arrested in connection with illegal bunkering and attempting to sell adulterated petroleum products to unsuspecting buyers.

The attempt by the three suspects led by one Kingsley Edede, a native of Edo State to sell off suspected adulterated petroleum product which was transported inside a 40, 000-litre capacity tanker was foiled by men of the Bayelsa State Command of the NSCDC who acted on a tip-off.

Bayelsa NSCDC Commandant explained to reporters in Yenagoa that the men who had been arrested on the East West road in Bayelsa State, had initially stopped at an authorized location at the Elele, Rivers State where they loaded their tanker with the adulterated product

Abiakam-Omanu who took advantage of the opportunity to warn economic saboteurs, also informed that no fewer than 30 convictions have been recorded in the campaign to end pipeline vandalism and illegal bunkering in the state.

In a similar vein, the Commandant urged members of the public to continue partnering with the NSCDC to ensure the success of carrying out its core mandate.
