A Joint Security Task Force has foiled bandits’ invasion of some communities in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.
The bandits, according to a statement by the Co-convener of Concerned Shiroro Youths, Yusuf Qoqi, were on about 10 motorcycles, well-armed.
The statement further said that the Joint Security Task Force engaged the bandits in a fire exchange, which led to the freedom of an unspecified number of abductees in Shakira, Rafi Local Government Areas of Niger State.
The freed victims have been in the bandit’s den for a very long time.
The Joint Security Task Force also carried out a similar raid on bandits at the Gavya community of Manta District of Shiroro Local Government Area, freeing an unspecified number of abducted persons.
Qoqi attributed the success of the Joint Security Task Force, to reliable information by members of the community.
He urged the people to continue to give such information to the Joint Security Task Force, as part of efforts, to restore peaceful coexistence among the people.
