Police in Katsina have said that they have arrested the killers of a businessman in Jargaba village of Bakori Local Government Area.
The spokesman of the Command, Gambo Isah, who stated this while parading the suspected bandits alongside others, also said that 30 human trafficking victims made up of 12 males and 18 females were also rescued.
The police spokesman while parading the suspects said the duo of 25-year-old Bara’u Dauda and Idi Tinau of Jargaba village in the Bakori Local Government Area who are suspected notorious bandits, were arrested in connection with the murder of a businessman, Ibrahim Jargaba, and the abduction of his two children.
According to Isah, it was a land deal disagreement that led to the initially planned abduction of the deceased but was shot dead, after he recognised one of the 10 bandits that stormed his house that night.
The 25-year-old suspect, Bara’u Dauda, while speaking to reporters, did not deny the crime. He promised to work with the police to ensure that the deceased’s abducted two children are rescued, as two AK-47 and some ammunition were recovered from them.
Similarly, another suspected kidnapper, 25-year-old Mikailu Ilyas, was arrested for allegedly calling one Dahiru Usman, and demanded the sum of 10 million Naira, or he risks being abducted.
Also, 30 human trafficking victims made up of 12 males and 18 females were rescued at a hideout at Mai’adua, a border town with the Niger Republic.
The victims are between the ages of 24 and 41 are from Edo, Imo, Osun, Ogun, Lagos, Delta, Benue, Ekiti, Enugu, and Cross Rivers States.
Isah said they were on their way to the Niger Republic, en-route Libya to Europe, and added that efforts are being intensified to arrest their agents and other members of the human trafficking syndicates.
