Covid-19: Edo State govt. reviews curfew

Edo State Government has announced a review of the curfew in the state to now lasts from 12 midnight to 5 am daily as part of measures to curtail the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in the state.

The Deputy Governor of the state, Philip Shaibu, who is the Chairman of the Technical Sub-Committee of the state COVID-19 Task Force made the announcement while briefing reporters of the progress made so far in the fight against the pandemic at the Government House, Benin City.

He said the review is coming on the heels of the recent drop in the case positivity rate which has drastically reduced from 23.1 per cent to one per cent while the state fatality rate has been relatively stable with active cases steadily reducing.

Shaibu noted that the state government has intensified the rollout of vaccination of eligible members of the public against the deadly virus with over 16, 000 persons vaccinated within the first eight days of the vaccine rollout.
