Two months after the suspension of its daily protests over unpaid 26 months salary arrears by the Cross River State Government, 30 magistrates have resumed the protests in front of the Government House, Calabar, with a call for the immediate payment of their entitlements.

Thirty magistrates had on January 4, embarked on an indefinite protest action to demand the payment of arrears owed them by the state government.

The leader of the protesting magistrates, Solomon Abuo, said despite all the promises made to them by the state government in a bid to stop the protest, nothing has been done.

Some of the affected magistrates while calling for the immediate payment of their salaries, said most of them cannot pay for their house rent and children’s school fees, even as those with health challenges cannot afford to buy drugs.

Thirty Magistrates employed by the Cross River State Government have since January protested non-payment of their 26 months salaries, but the state government said their employment did not follow due process.
