Over 60 shops and goods worth millions of Naira were razed down by fire at the Tudun Wada Market, in the Gusau Metropolis of Zamfara State on Sunday.
The Chairman of the market, Lawali Gusau, said the inferno was caused by an electrical fault in one of the shops from where the fire spread to other shops.
Over 60 shops were affected. He called on the state government to assist the victims.
Governor Bello Mohammed visited the scene to assess the level of damage occasioned by the fire.
He promised to assist the victims with some money to immediately start business somewhere, pending the reconstruction of the burnt shops.
He directed the immediate reconstruction of the market into modern ones to enable the affected shop owners to have a befitting environment to do their businesses.
The Governor sympathized with the victims over the unfortunate development. He asked them to see the situation as the will of Allah.
