Cross River State Government says the increase in malnourished children occasioned by the Covid-19 economic consequences will be addressed while those with various diseases in the rural communities will be treated free of charge.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Betta Edu, stated this when she visited Nko, Yakurr Local Government Area of the state.
Edu assured that the government will take the issue of severe malnutrition and other diseases in rural areas seriously with periodic interventions.
Some of the affected mothers explained that making ends meet has been difficult as their petty traders could not survive the lockdown period during the high rate of the covid-19 era.
More than 30 families were targeted during the visit with some relief materials distributed to members of the community while the health workers administered the immediate tests and minor treatments to the affected children.
